Where Will Treated Water Be Discharged?

Treated effluent from the new facility will be discharged to the Big Sioux River. A force main pipe will run along 274th Street, extending to the river.

The City of Harrisburg is working with the South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources to establish the permit conditions for the planned discharge to the Big Sioux River. The new facility will be designed to meet those permit limits. The City of Harrisburg will be required to regularly monitor the discharge to ensure compliance.
